Town Hall Public Meetings - Dead or Alive in Community Engagement?

  • Colonial Light Room, Adelaide City Council 25 Pirie Street Adelaide, SA, 5000 Australia (map)

Elected members, managers, community engagement practitioners and the community are invited to join us debate the future of public meetings in community engagement.

Is this technique of engaging the community... dead or alive?

Often called town hall meetings this style of public meeting hasn't just been the tool of local government for 100s of years but is used universally in both the public and private sector.

With so many tools and techniques out there and the rise and rise of online alternatives why do we still see these often drab, grey, shouting shops as part of the consultation period.

Do you like the theatre? The lines of chairs facing a platform? The opportunity to air a grievance in front of neighbours? Or are you advocating for a fresh approach? Come discuss with us at out next Adelaide lunch time session.

Bring your knowledge, experience and stories about public meetings to share.

Be prepared to take the stage :)
